The Vanderburgh County Health Department will spray for mosquitoes in Evansville Friday night. The crew will start around 8:00 p.m. and continue until midnight in an area bounded by Highway 41, Pollack Avenue, South Green River Road and I-164. Health officials ask residents to empty any outdoor containers that may become a breeding ground for mosquitoes. A total of six sample pools have now tested positive for the West Nile virus in the county.

Old Boonville Highway between Green River Road and Burkhardt in Vanderburgh County is expected to reopen sometime Friday. Crews have been replacing a bridge over Crawford-Brandeis Ditch.

Indiana State Police along with other law enforcement agencies in the tri-state will continue to take part in the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign over the weekend. The drunk driving crackdown runs through Labor Day.

There will be a sobriety checkpoint in Vanderburgh County between 11:30 and 3:30 Sunday night. The location is not being released, but authorities say it's an area with a high number of hit and run crashes.

Lane restrictions are in place on Green River Road just north of Lynch to Millersburg in Vanderburgh County. Crews are sealing cracks and striping. The project is expected to be finished Friday afternoon. Lane restrictions are also in place from Millersburg to Kansas as workers widen Green River Road to five lanes.
