Evansville-based Anchor Industries has been awarded a portion of a $200,000,000 military contract from the Department of Defense for 'commercial shelters'.
20 companies are vying for the contract; Anchor is the first to be notified that they have been selected.
Anchor has been making government-approved fire shelters for over 30 years.
This contract for the DOD will be for vehicle maintenance shelters in various sizes.
They will be used by the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines.
"If you know anything about the military and working with the government so often when you work with contracts they can be quite slow but we've been very patient we've been working with the Department of Defense and that is who we've won the contract from," said Government Sales Manager John Montrastelle.
Anchor says they won't know if they will need to hire any additional workers until they know how much of the DOD contract they will be awarded.
