Taking a stand: City council drug testing

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

The Evansville City Council Monday night shot down the idea that they should be drug tested like all other city employees.

To say the very least - that's disappointing.

I applaud Missy Mosby and Jonathan Weaver for standing up and voting for the testing.

It'd be remiss if we didn't point out…they're elected. They make decision for the city. They get paid by the city. They have city health insurance.

It's odd to me how you can sit on council, think it's okay to test other city employees, but think you're above it? Really?

Judging by the comments on the 14News Facebook page…the taxpayers think you're not above other employees and should be tested.

I agree with them. It only makes sense - you're an elected official - like it or not you're held to a higher standard and proving you're sober, clean, and not impaired isn't asking a lot.

That's my stand, what's yours?
