Icemen re-sign defensemen

Head Coach & Director of Hockey Operations, Dwight Mullins, has announced that the Evansville IceMen have signed defensemen Loren Barron and Donnie Harris for the coming 2014-15 ECHL season. This will be Barron's second season with the IceMen while Harris returns for his third year.


Glendora, California native Loren Barron, 25, is back in an IceMen uniform after playing 65 games in Evansville last season where he scored 3 goals and 15 assists good for 18 points. He also earned 27 penalty minutes. The 6'-1", 179 lbs blueliner played junior hockey for one season with the USHL Indiana Ice and four years of college hockey at Quinnipiac University (ECAC) before joining the IceMen.


Donnie Harris also is back as a part of Evansville's defensive group after playing 50 games for the IceMen last year and 34 games during the 2012-13 season. Harris, 6'-3", 225 lbs, has scored 3 goals and 9 assists for 12 points in 84 games in Evansville and added 34 penalty minutes. A native of Fort Ashby, West Virginia, he has also spent parts of three seasons with the Pensacola Ice Flyers of the SPHL (2011-14) and turned pro with the ECHL Elmira Jackals in 2011 where he appeared in two games. Donnie played three seasons of junior hockey in the NAHL, USHL, and the AJHL.


IceMen Head Coach Dwight Mullins said of Barron and Harris, "having depth and grit on our back end is very important to team success. Both these guys are very solid in their own end."


And a reminder that the IceMen have announced the dates for their Inaugural Free Agent Camp to be held at Swonder Ice Arena, located at 209 N Boeke Road in Evansville, IN. The camp will run on Friday September 19th through Sunday September 21st . Players will participate in three scrimmages during their time in Evansville with top players being guaranteed a spot on the 2014-2015 Season Training Camp Roster.

Cost is $250, paid in advance, includes a two-night hotel stay at the Comfort Inn East, lunch, and jersey and socks will be provided. Players must provide their own equipment, with helmets having a shield and must carry their own USA Hockey Insurance.
