EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

A man is behind bars after Vanderburgh County sheriff's deputies say he pointed a gun at one of their own.

Investigators say an off-duty deputy confronted 22-year-old Jacob Beliles at Washington Square Mall on Monday.

According to the sheriff's office, Beliles jumped over the counter of a closed restaurant, took two soft drinks and ran out the back door.

The deputy chased Beliles and tried to arrest him.

Investigators say Beliles pulled away while he was being handcuffed and pointed a revolver at the deputy.

The deputy used his taser to take Beliles into custody.

Investigators say the revolver was not loaded.
