Henderson Co. Sheriff reacts to military vehicle review

HENDERSON CO., KY (WFIE) -

Henderson County Sheriff Ed Brady is concerned the program that allowed the department to obtain several military-type vehicles may come to an end.

Over the weekend, President Obama ordered a review of the distribution of military hardware to local police over concerns of the use of that equipment  in Ferguson, Missouri.

Sheriff Brady agrees the program needs to be revisited but says it's worked well in Henderson County.

"It's real easy to say well let's take this equipment and let's just get rid of it and that's fixes this that makes us well, it's not going to change anything. The equipment there has not been the issue, they need to fix the dysfunction of the community and that's a lot of hard work," says Brady.

Brady says the vehicles have been used for storm clean-up in the county and is hopeful the program will continue.
