PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) -

McCracken County deputies say a mail carrier and another person were injured in a wreck on Thursday afternoon.

It happened shortly after 1:30 p.m. in the 5800 block of Old Mayfield.

Officers say 53-year-old Kathy Adams of Paducah, Kentucky was stopped at Old Mayfield Road in her vehicle delivering mail.

James Beaver, 70, of Paducah, was driving northbound in the same lane as Adams, and didn't see Adams' vehicle stopped in the road, according to the sheriff's office.

Beaver's vehicle hit the rear of Adams' vehicle. Her vehicle then left the road and hit a utility pole.

Both drivers were taken to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries by Mercy EMS.

Hendron Fire Department and Jackson Purchase Electric assisted at the scene.

The road was closed for around 1 hour and 15 minutes for cleanup.
