Victim's family speaks out during murder trial

GIBSON CO., IN (WFIE) - Siblings of a murder victim sat in the first row during the trial of 25-year-old Austin Blaize on Wednesday.

Blaize is accused of shooting and killing his ex-girlfriend's father, 47-year-old Terry Monier, last year in Fort Branch.

In the first row, front and center, sat the siblings of Terry Monier, two sisters and Terry's older brother, Ted.

Ted told 14 News that Terry loved to joke but at the same time he was a responsible family man.

He said he had met Austin Blaize, who at the time was dating Terry's daughter, many times at different family events.

Ted says he remembers exactly where he was and what he was doing when he got the call about his brother 19 months ago.

"I was home in my recliner getting ready to take a nap," says Ted Monier, "and I got a phone call from my dad telling me what happened. I jumped up and met my dad and we came down from Linton. We all miss [Terry] and we love him."

The defense is expected to start calling witnesses to the stand on Friday.
