Staff members at Holiday World & Splashin' Safari completed the popular ALS Ice Bucket Challenge Monday in a big way.  Make that huge.

Full-time employees, including park director Leah Koch and president/CEO Matt Eckert, stood under a 1,200-gallon bucket at Kima Bay.

They added their own ice in buckets and hard hats as the bucket overhead tipped, drenching them.

Koch said she had been challenged personally and then challenged the Holiday World staff.

Holiday World is now challenging Kings Island, Dollywood, Six Flags St. Louis and Silver Dollar City to complete the Ice Bucket Challenge.

As of Tuesday, The ALS Association said on its website it had received $22.9 million in donations.  That swamps the $1.9 million The Association said was donated during the same time period (July 29-August 19) last year.

According to The ALS Association, those donations came from existing donors and more than 450,000 new donors.

Holiday World says its donations will come from the staff, the park and the Koch family.
