Your Daily Drive for Monday, August 18

TRI-STATE (WFIE) -

Drivers in Evansville whose commute takes them through a west side intersection are seeing a temporary change because of complaints made to the city's traffic engineering department. Early Monday morning, crews performed a manual override on the traffic light at Barker and Broadway, creating a four way stop. The light is going to stay that way for the next 6 months to see if it improves traffic flow. Officials says most drivers turn right onto Broadway or left onto Barker, and they sometimes have to wait for long periods of time even though there are no other vehicles around. You can call (812) 436-4988 to leave your comments from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

There will be something for drivers to look out for along US 41-Alternate/US 60/South Green Street in Henderson Monday. A southbound-westbound lane restriction will extend from Kentucky 136/Sand Lane to Fair Street and Canoe Creek Drive. Crews will be repairing asphalt along the shoulder and traffic will be moved into the left lane.

Inspection work continues on the Twin Bridges in Henderson Monday on the southbound side. Transportation officials say the project will require no lane restrictions, but they're asking drivers to use caution. Inspectors may be along the curb and railing area as they move along the bridge structure.

In Owensboro, the northbound lane of Locust Street between Eighth and Ninth is expected to reopen sometime Monday. The following streets will close for repairs: Strawbridge Place from Asbury Court to 2900 Strawbridge Place through Friday and the 400 block of Maple Avenue through Thursday.
