Cardinals Fall to Padres, in Rain-Marred Game

ST. LOUIS (AP) -

Jeff Gyorko hit his third career grand slam and drove in five runs, sparking the San Diego Padres to a 9-5 rain-delayed win over the St. Louis Cardinals, last night.

Gyorko's eighth homer came on an 0-1 pitch, from Kevin Siegrist, with one out in the 7th.  The Padres had loaded the bases on two singles and a walk, before Gyorko's monster shot.

The Cardinals dropped to three games back of Milwaukee for the NL Central lead, as the Brewers beat the Dodgers, 3-2.
