MAYFIELD, KY (KFVS) -

A Mayfield, Kentucky man faces manslaughter charges in connection to the death of his father, according to the Kentucky State Police.

According to KSP, 44-year-old Terry Hayes was charged with one count of manslaughter first degree.

Troopers say just after 9 a.m. on Wednesday, August 13, Kentucky State Police received a 911 call from a home on Greg Street in Graves County.

Terry Hayes told officers that he arrived home and found his father, Bailey Hayes, dead.

Troopers and detectives arrived at the home to conduct a death investigation.

Investigators soon determined the death to be suspicious and asked an autopsy to be performed.

An autopsy of Bailey Hayes was performed on Thursday at the Western Kentucky Regional Medical Examiner's Office in Madisonville.

Because of the autopsy and evidence at the scene of the death, state police detectives executed a search warrant at Hayes' home.

Evidence was collected which lead to the development of Terry Hayes as a suspect.

On Thursday evening, detectives interviewed and then arrested 44-year-old Terry Hayes.

Hayes was booked into the Graves County Jail.

The investigation is continuing by the Kentucky State Police.
