EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

It's a first for the downtown YMCA.

Owners are being invited to bring their dogs to play in the indoor pool.

The 1st Annual Doggie Dip will take place on August 23 before the pool at the downtown Y is drained for maintenance.

There are two sessions based on the size of the dog.

Session I will take place from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. for dogs under 25 pounds.

Session II is from 1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. for dogs over 25 pounds.

The 'Dip" is open to both members and non-Y members.

The cost is $10 per dog and handler, and there's a limit of one dog per handler.

People will not be allowed in the pool with their dogs.

Registration is required for all dogs.  Pre-registration is encouraged by Saturday, August 16. Registration will be allowed on the day of the event as space allows.

You must show proof of vaccination for rabies for each dog.
