St. Mary's officials "break ground" for Boonville urgent care facility

BOONVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

With site work already completed, St. Mary's employees didn't officially break ground until Tuesday morning.

At 10 a.m. they dug in the gold shovels and celebrated expanding their services to Warrick County with a new urgent care.

The facility will be modeled after St. Mary's at Epworth Crossing and is being constructed by the same company.

Before committing to building this new site, they did a study to figure out if it would actually fill a need in the community. They interviewed people living in Warrick County as well as emergency personnel and employers. Some employers expressed interest in being able to send drug screening referrals to the new location.

Like St. Mary's Epworth Crossing, Media Relations Coordinator Randy Capehart tells me this facility will help fill the gap between primary care doctors and the hospital.

The hours for the facility have yet to be finalized.

Construction is expected to be completed by the end of the year, with patients being scheduled for late December or early January.
