Teachers Assoc., EVSC reach tentative collective bargaining agreement

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

The Evansville Teachers Association and Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation have reached a tentative agreement on a 2014-15 collective bargaining agreement.

Formal collective bargaining for teachers legally could not begin until August 1.

ETA President Mark Lichtenberg said, "I am very pleased that we were able to come to an agreement so quickly. All of the discussions were conducted respectfully, and the result is what I believe to be a fair settlement."

Full details of the tentative agreement will be shared with ETA members at a series of meetings scheduled for later this month.

According to the ETA, the tentative agreement provides an across-the-board increase for 2014-15 and includes a mechanism to provide increases to teachers' base salary

In order to comply with state law, changes will need to be made to items from the previous collective bargaining agreement that by law can no longer be included in the bargaining process.

A target completion date for those changes is this fall.
