Car break-in attempt leaves suspect stuck inside car

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Three men are under arrest after they were caught breaking into a car. It was a crime that trapped one of them in the vehicles.

Arrest reports say Michael Hughes, 19, David Hughes, 21, and Dylan Broaddus, also 21, all of Louisville, were caught in the act in the 5200 block of Russett Boulevard around 5:15 a.m. Aug. 6.

In a taped statement, Michael Hughes told police he was unable to get out of the vehicle after breaking into it. Police say David Hughes and Broaddus did more than $1,000 in damage to the car in their attempt to free Michael Hughes.

In a taped statement, Michael Hughes also said he had broken into at least three other vehicles before he was caught.

All three were booked into Louisville Metro Corrections for theft by unlawful taking from an auto and criminal mischief.
