EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - The 53rd annual Volksfest kicks off this Thursday.
They'll be celebrating the 100th year of the Germania Maennerchor building, its strong German history and heritage.
There will be maps, flags and memorabilia on display.
And, of course, there will be the traditional Volksfest fare including bratwurst, sauerkraut, potatoes and a beer garden.
Live bands will perform German music throughout the building and outdoor areas.
The Rhein Valley Brass will be playing in the upstairs ballroom, the Cincinnati Schnaps Band will be in the beer hall on the back lot, and the Rathskeller Band will perform in the Rathskeller.
The annual brat toss competitions will be held Thursday and Friday at 8:00 p.m.
Volksfest is open for lunch on Thursday and Friday fom 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. After that time, only people 21 and older can enter.
Volksfest runs each day until midnight.
