The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is looking at widening Highway US 60 in Henderson County.
KYTC held a public meeting Tuesday night to discuss the widening of the one mile stretch near Henderson Community College. ABout 30 people attended the meeting.
The expansion would include bike lanes, curbs, gutters, and an extension of the sidewalks.
Kris Williams, President of HCC, says with hundreds of people on and off campus all day, safety is the most important thing. "It will change the face of the campus because we'll lose some land in this process. It's important that it be an easy access. That we have an opportunity for students and the community have safe entry and exit from the college, said Williams."
The overall cost of the project is expected to be around $7 million, and could be finished in 2016.
