Teddy bear donation to help grieving children

The youth group from the American Baptist East Church donated teddy bears to the bereavement program at Deaconess Women's Hospital on Monday.

The bears will go children whose infant brothers or sisters have passed way.

The youth group stuffed and assembled the bears to be given away as comfort items.

"I think we forget that the little children need things too when they've lost a sibling, because they just need comfort from whatever they can, and by hugging a teddy bear they get that comfort. So.. I'm very proud of our youth, and what they've done," Nancy Grayson, organizer.

The group purchased the bears with money from a penny war between the boys and girls during the church's vacation bible school in June.

The students raised $336.
