EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - They started lining up early even though the doors didn't open until 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning.
People came to the Potters Wheel Ministry in downtown Evansville for free backpacks filled with school supplies.
More than 450 backpacks for students in grades K through 12.
They were given to anyone in need on a first come, first served basis.
Organizers of the giveaway say they raised close to $9,000 to buy the supplies.
The money came from sponsorships, fundraisers and donations.
This is the 4th year for the event.
