LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A traffic alert for drivers who use Interstate 65 south heading toward Elizabethtown. Over the next two weeks, the left southbound lane will shut down as road crews create a temporary median crossover lane for the I-65 repaving project.

The work starts one mile north through to the Shepherdsville exit and will happen daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Southbound drivers wanting to exit at KY 245 (Exit 112) will have to stay in the right lane.

Kentucky State Police will enforce the 55 mile per hour speed limit and those cited will receive a double fine.

The construction is part of $20.7 million project for removal and replacement of various sections of concrete pavement across a 20 mile section of I-65. The construction, which began in March, is expected to wrap up by the end of the year.
