CINCINNATI (FOX19) -

Lumenocity is this weekend, the popular light show and Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra experience that is expected to draw upwards of 35,000 people to Washington Park.

If you're one of the lucky locals who scored tickets or you plan to watch at a simulcast location, here's what you need to know before you go.

Hours: The shows begin at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Gates open at 4 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. Saturday and Sunday along with the Lumenocity Village, which does not require tickets.

The family-friendly village, located at the southern end of the Park, will feature food, crafts and entertainment  from local makers and artisans. Organizers suggest bringing cash if you plan to shop the village.

Arrive early. That's the top tip from organizer Meghan Berneking, who says you can claim a spot on the lawn and then head out to the enjoy the Lumenocity Village. Re-entry wristbands will be provided.

12,500 people will be on the Washington Park lawn, and while Meghan says organizers have planned for adequate space, be prepared to get to know your neighbor.

What to bring: You can bring blankets, lawn chairs, coolers and food. If you plan to arrive early, organizers suggest packing all the necessities you'll need for a day outdoors, especially if the whole family is going.

You can't bring alcohol, non-service animals and umbrellas. Alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase on-site, ranging in price from $5 to $10.

Parking and traffic: 900 parking spots are up for grabs at Union Terminal and a free shuttle will travel to and from the terminal each night starting at 4 p.m. and ending at midnight. Find a map of downtown parking options here.

I-71 South will be closed at Dana Avenue all weekend and detours will be posted. Portions of multiple downtown streets will also be shut down. Click here for the list.

Weather: Lumenocity is rain or shine, but organizers say it will be delayed if there's lightning or extreme inclement weather. Chief Meteorologist Steve Horstmeyer says we could see very brief pop-up showers this weekend, so consider packing a poncho.

Don't have tickets? Don't worry: Although all tickets to the show have been reserved, there are still options providing a front-row view.

  • Fountain Square and Riverbend Music Center will have live simulcasts on Sunday
  • WCET will broadcast on Saturday
  • 90.9 WGUC will have the music live on the radio Friday
  • Fountain Square and Riverbend Music Center live simulcasts on Sunday, August 3
  • All three performances to be carried live via web stream

"This is an amazing event that's generated unprecedented attention for this region. It's an artistic experience for everyone to enjoy with their neighbors and friends," says Meghan.
