Tuesday, June 29th is International Tiger Day and Mesker Park Zoo is celebrating with its two tigers.
They'll be hosting "Zookeeper Chats" about tigers and tiger conservation at 2:00 and 6:30 p.m. and will also provide behind-the-scene tours of the exhibit at that time.
The zoo is typically closed by 6:30 p.m., but stays open for four additional hours every Tuesday through September 16th. Marketing Director Abigail Adler says she hopes people who can't typically come to the zoo during the day will take the opportunity to learn about the tigers.
The zoo is also continuing with its "#SelfieswithWally" campaign.
Wally is a bear sculpture in the Family Garden, carved from one of the zoo's old walnut trees that fell down.
Mesker calls Wally the "Ultimate Recycled Art" and encourages zoo visitors to take a selfie with Wally and post it to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram with the hashtag "#selfiewithwally".
