Heavy rain causes problems for driver

The heavy rain caused issues for drivers in our area Monday afternoon. Our crews stumbled across a mini van stuck in the mud after experiencing mechanical problems. WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

The heavy rain caused issues for drivers in our area Monday afternoon. Our crews stumbled across a mini van stuck in the mud after experiencing mechanical problems.

The driver said he was trying to pull over to check a belt underneath the hood of the van. He thought he was pulling onto a solid piece of concrete, but to his dismay it was a quagmire of mud.

The driver said the van began to sink into the mud, but luckily he called a friend to come pull him out.

Officers say 34-year-old Demario White shot 33-year-old Andrew Beasley in the chest in the 3900 block of Jackson Avenue before 9 p.m. on May 15. May 15th shooting suspect ID'd as Demario White, 34.
