Police ID body found in fountain at Kansas City International Airport

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

An investigation has been launched after a woman's body was found in a fountain at Kansas City International Airport.

Kansas City police identified the woman as 21-year-old Husenet M. Yassin. She works near the airport.

Her body was found about 3:10 p.m. Monday in a fountain that greets visitors to KCI. This is off Paris Road in the median that divides traffic going in and out of the main terminal area.

The body was found during a routine check by airport security. The body was not obvious to passing motorists. The Jackson County Medical Examiner's Office determined that the body had not begun to decompose so the death was recent.

A cause of death is pending. Police say they are listing it as suspicious due to the location of the body.

The area beneath the fountain is 15-feet deep. Authorities drained the pond connected to the fountain in the search for clues.

No one reported seeing anyone walking in the area, however, authorities are asking for the public to call authorities if they remember someone walking in the area.

Kansas City police and airport police are working together on the investigation.

Anyone with information is urged to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
