Insects to invade Wesselman Nature Center for 2nd annual Bug Fest

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

For the second year, D-Patrick-sponsored event, Bug Fest, is coming to Wesselman Nature Center.

The free event allows you to get up close and personal with insects from far-away countries and right here at home, including giant cockroaches and a Chilean rose-haired tarantula.

Wesselman Woods Nature Center Director John Foster says he understands getting friendly with bugs is the last thing many people want to do. Foster says that's why this event can be so useful. People who attend can choose to look at the bugs from behind a glass cage or outside of it.

Foster says it also teaches people to appreciate and look for the bugs all around us every day.

The open house-style event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and people are encouraged to come and go as they please.
