Man arrested in Fatal Wreck on Peach Orchard Road

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

The Richmond County Sheriff's Office made in arrest in the Thursday's accident that killed one person.

Deputies said 43-year-old Branden David Ross was driving the car that collided with 50-year-old Donetta McCullum's vehicle.

Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen confirmed a fatal accident on Peach Orchard Road and Faircrest Avenue killed McCullum Thursday night.

McCullum was trying to turn left and go north on Peach Orchard when her Suzuki Grand Vitara was hit by another car. McCullum was extracted from the car and died at the GRU emergency room.

Investigators say Ross was traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on Peach Orchard Road. Ross was charged with DUI, reckless driving, and 1st degree vehicular homicide.

An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Atlanta Crime Lab Friday.
