HOPKINS CO., KY (WFIE) -

Daylyn Jones, the Madisonville teen accused of trying to cause his pregnant girlfriend to miscarry, pleaded guilty in court Wednesday.

The Hopkins County Attorney's office says 19-year-old Jones pleaded guilty to third-degree attempted fetal homicide. Police say Jones knowingly put ibuprofen in a drink meant for his girlfriend to cause a miscarriage.

Police say she drank some of the drink, noticed a strange taste and told her parents, who contacted authorities.

Officials say Jones was sentenced to 360 days, 330 of which, are suspended. He will get credit for time served for the other 30 days.

As part of the plea agreement, Jones was ordered to not have any violations of the law for a period of two years and complete 100 hours of community service.

In addition, Jones will also be monitored by the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services.

He must also take part in a parenting class.
