City leaders in Grayville Illinois are taking steps to grow medical marijuana in the area.
The city council approved a real estate contract that would sell 22 acres of land to a developer near the I-64 plaza, which is former prison property.
Deerpath Development wants to buy the property for $3,000 per acre and build a medical marijuana project site.
The contract still has to be approved by the state.
Illinois became the 20th state to legalize medical marijuana in 2013.
