The Evansville Redevelopment Commission granted another extension to HCW for the downtown hotel contract on Tuesday.
The previous deadline for contracting work on the downtown hotel ended a few weeks ago.
HCW CEO Rick Huffman says based on some problems found underground and their team needs to go back to the design board and tweak a few things.
Once they're done, they'll rebid the hotel contract.
They also have to take on a few other redesigns because of other downtown developments.
"Obviously when Indiana University came in with the medical school, that took some rethinking of how to make that all work together with bridges and utilities," said Huffman. "We're happy about it, but it has extended the period to get everything done."
HCW says the bidding process should be complete by late September.
He says construction will start soon after and finish 17-18 months later.
