Archuleta named D-2 Coach of the Year

University of Southern Indiana baseball Head Coach Tracy Archuleta was named the 2014 Diamond/American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Coach of the Year for the NCAA Division II after leading the Screaming Eagles to the national championship in May. He is the first USI head coach to be named national coach of the year twice, winning his first in 2010 after leading the Eagles to their first national title.

Archuleta, who also was named the Midwest Region Coach of the Year by the ABCA and the Great Lakes Valley Conference Coach of the Year in a vote of the league coaches, led the Screaming Eagles to their second national championship in baseball and a 49-13 record this past spring. The .790 winning percentage in 2014 set a USI single-season record.

The Eagles, who were a near-perfect 28-3 at the USI Baseball Field in 2014, also won the GLVC East Division crown and the NCAA II Midwest Regional title this spring. The regional championship was USI's third under Archuleta's leadership.

In eight years at USI, Archuleta has a .675 winning percentage and a 312-150 record in putting the baseball Eagles on the national map. He is 460-274 (.627) in his 13 seasons as a head coach at USI and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.
