Ohio Co. man facing long list of charges after traffic stop

MUHLENBERG CO., KY (WFIE) -

A Rockport man was arrested on multiple charges after authorities say he tried to run away from a traffic stop.

Kentucky State Police say Monday night, just before 11, troopers stopped a vehicle being driven by 22-year-old Jacob Asberry, of Rockport, KY, on Highland Drive in Greenville.

KSP says as troopers tried to arrest Asberry for driving under the influence, he ran away to a nearby wooded area.

After short foot pursuit, troopers were able to catch Asberry.

KSP says when they searched the vehicle troopers found suspected meth and other drug paraphernalia.

Asberry was arrested and taken to the Muhlenberg County Detention Center.

Authorities say he is charged with:

  • Speeding in a Restricted Zone
  • Reckless Driving
  • Obstructed Vision/Windshield
  • Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence 1st Offense
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Fleeing or Evading Police 2nd Degree – On Foot
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense - Meth
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree

Troopers say Asberry was also arrested on several outstanding bench warrants.
