DUBOIS CO., IN (WFIE) -

A portion of State Road 64 was shut down after a semi carrying animal fat overturned in Dubois County.

The Dubois County Sheriff's Office says 53-year-old Bernard Jackson, of Linton, IN., was driving the semi one mile west of SR-161 on SR-64 around 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning.

They say he was unable to stop in time to avoid a collision with a vehicle that was stopped and waiting to turn into a private drive.

Sheriff's deputies say Jackson went off the road and the semi turned onto its side, spilling about half of the load.

Officials say Jackson was trapped inside the semi, but was freed by first responders that arrived on scene.

Jackson was taken to Memorial EMS with minor injuries.

The Dubois County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Huntingburg First Responders, Memorial EMS, a representative from IDEM, and wreckers from G&M and Craney's.
