Dubois Co. Humane Society and Walmart working to safely remove cats

JASPER, IN (WFIE) -

The Dubois County Humane Society is now working with Walmart to find permanent homes for the feral cats that have been living on Walmart property in Jasper.

The DCHS will begin implementing a plan this weekend to humanely capture and relocate the cats.

Humane society workers have started giving the cats controlled feedings using food donated by Walmart.

These feedings are being used to keep the animals in a specific area to help prepare for their eventual capture and transfer next week.

The DCHS is asking that people not try to feed the feral cats since it could interfere with their plans.

Once the cats are safely in the care of DCHS, they will be evaluated by a veterinarian, receive vaccinations, be spayed or neutered and returned to the humane society for relocation or adoption.

Walmart will pay for all vet exams and procedures.

If anyone is interested in adopting one of the cats once they are available, contact the DCHS by email at dcshmail@yahoo.com  or by private Facebook message.
