Officers say their new armored military vehicle will only be used in shooting situations to help shield officers and residents in danger.
Sgt. J.D. Winkler with the OPD says, "the vehicle is not going to be something we use on a daily basis, hopefully we will never have to use it but if a citizen is ever in harm's way the officers will have the equipment to be able to rescue them."
OPD says they are grateful to have received the truck for free through a military surplus equipment program.
It can hold up to six people and requires little maintenance.
