EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

A man is in custody after a police chase through a high traffic area in Evansville.

The Evansville Police Department says the chase started around 11:30 a.m. when an officer spotted a man on a motorcycle headed east on the Lloyd that matched the description of a motorcycle theft suspect.

Police say the chase lasted about four minutes and ended on Stockwell Rd. when the suspect tried to avoid cars by driving down the middle of the road.

EPD says he ended up sideswiping a car and clipping the mirror of another car causing him to lose control and crash.

Police say he was taken to St. Mary's with non-life-threatening injuries.

EPD says the motorcycle the suspect was driving was stolen.
