50 new potential units coming to Ferdinand apartments

Posted: Updated:

Construction to the West Side Apartments in Ferdinand could get underway later this year to bring just under 50 new units to the area.

Town Council President Ken Sicard says Brad Brosmer of Superior Insulation owns the apartments and is hoping to add 48 new units.

Brosmer has asked the council if they would be interested in granting him a tax abatement for the project, and Sicard says he supports that plan.

However, Sicard says an economic development committee must be appointed to study the project's impact, and that Brosmer must apply and be approved for a residential permit.

"That's kind of exciting," said Sicard. "We've got businesses wanting to grow, bringing people in. We just don't have that housing available. So this would be a good start in our eyes."

Sicard says if all goes well, construction on the new apartments could begin in September.
