OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -

Kentucky Wesleyan College is planning to have part of their freshman orientation downtown instead of on campus for the first time.

KWC Vice President Bart Darrell says it's a way for the college to build relationships in the community and to be part of the new revitalized downtown area.

The college will bus students to and from downtown Owensboro.

Students will visit the River Park center, Owensboro Convention Center, and Museum Fine Arts.

"We're going to encourage our new freshman to go into those businesses, meet those folks, find out what opportunities that are there for them when they are not in the library studying or in class," said Bart.

The incoming freshman class in the fall is expected to have more than 200 students.

Freshman orientation will start on August 23.
