POSEY CO., IN (WFIE) -

Indiana State Police have released the report on the investigation into a wreck that seriously hurt two people, including a trooper.

The wreck happened June 30 on I-64 in Posey County.

According to the accident report, Trooper John Alexander was doing a traffic stop when a minivan failed to move over to other lane, which is against state law.

Trooper Alexander then started after the minivan to pull them over with lights and sirens activated.

While chasing after the minivan Trooper Alexander lost control of his cruiser, crossed the median and hit the vehicle occupied by Sherri and John Jones, of Louisville.

Officials say 63-year-old Sherri Jones was taken by helicopter to Deaconess Hospital to be treated for serious injuries.  Her husband, 64-year-old John Jones, was taken by ambulance to Deaconess, also with serious injuries.

Trooper Alexander was at Deaconess Hospital for a head injury and has since been released. ISP says Trooper Alexander is currently on sick leave recuperating from his injuries.

The Jones' are still in the hospital.
