POSEY CO., IN (WFIE) -

Crews are working a fire that's been burning since the beginning of the week in Posey County.

It broke out around 7:30 Monday night at Abengoa, an ethanol plant in the 8900 block of West Franklin Road in Mount Vernon.

Fire crews say they are making progress putting out piles of burning corn. Firefighters have apparently been cutting holes in the grain bin to get water and foam inside.

No word yet on what caused the fire.

According to a statement from an Abengoa spokesperson, the fire was inside ductwork leading to a grain bin. The spokesperson called the fire 'small' and says it is under control.

The spokesperson told 14 News that the plant has remained fully operational with no impact to production.

The Red Cross has been helping the dozens of firefighters who have been working in shifts. There's been one report of a firefighter becoming overheated.

The spokesperson says there have been no injuries and no major damage from the fire.
