HENDERSON CO., KY (WFIE) -

The Henderson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a head-on collision that took place Monday on U.S. 41A, north of KY-425.

Officials say 33-year-old Jon Brown was driving a Humane Society of Henderson vehicle north on Hwy 41A.

They say the vehicle hydroplaned, leaving the northbound lane, and struck a vehicle driven by 32-year-old Joni Richmond.

Both drivers had to be extricated from their vehicles.

Brown was taken to Methodist Hospital and then transferred to St. Mary's in Evansville. Officials say he is in serious condition.

Joni was taken to St. Mary's in critical condition, but hospital officials tell 14 News she has been upgraded to fair condition as of July 10.

Joni's son, who was a passenger in her vehicle, was taken to Methodist ER for minor injuries.

The collision is under investigation.

No animals were in the animal control truck.
