LA GRANGE, KY (WAVE) - Two young lives were lost on a stretch of Highway 53 at Old Sligo Road in Oldham County.

"It just sucks that one, well two of them are gone and one of them is clinging on," a friend of the teens, Josh Busch, said.

Saturday afternoon Ben Clifford and Haley O'Kelley died when the car they were in crashed into a pick up truck. The driver, 20-year-old Brianna Zambrzycki, survived the impact.

"It's a little crazy because, you know, you just saw them," Busch said.

Ben's mother is devastated. She told us her son loved life and his friends. He had just graduated from Oldham County High School and had plans to go to UK and study engineering.

"It's a tragedy for the whole county, it really is," his friend Ben Ader said.

"He was loved. People cared about him a lot. His mother and his sister are good family friends, good people. He's going to be missed," Ader said.

Haley O'Kelley was just 19 years old. She was from Jeffersonville and worked at a daycare at her church.

Brianna's friends are now hoping she pulls through.

"As soon as I found out, I just, Bri, you know," her friend Mackenzy Johnson said while fighting back tears. "I just can't believe that something like happened to her."

Friends talked about her fun-loving personality. Meanwhile police have not said what may have led to the crash.

"I just don't understand how bad things happen to good people," Johnson said.
