LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - It was an early 4th of July morning for many in WAVE Country. While some laced up their running shoes others went back in time remembering America's history.
Glenn Smith spent the early morning setting up a World War II replica at the Shepherdsville City Fair.
“What I'm going to try to do is set up a World War II camp with all the original equipment I can,” Smith said. “It’s a very big day for us, for all of us. What these boys did and what the other guys did we just can’t repay them enough.”
Over in New Albany, Indiana, runners laced up their shoes for the Independence Day 5K.
“It's social, it's patriotic, something that brings people together,” Sara Dvorsky said.
“It's fun just to be out with everyone else and celebrate what our country is all about,” Debbie Dvorsky said.
Add in the beautiful weather and people were happy to spend this day outside.
