The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to close a section of KY 136 in Henderson County starting on Monday, July 7.
KYTC says the road is expected to close at mile point 24.61 to allow construction of a new bridge over the East Fork of Canoe Creek.
The closure is along KY 136 between KY 520 and KY 416 near Niagara Elementary School.
KYTC says there will be a marked detour via KY Hwy 416 and KY Hwy 520, as well as a posted truck detour via KY Hwy 416 and US 41.
Officials say KY 136 was expected to close earlier in the year, but during prep work for construction the contractor found an underground cable near the work site that had to be moved before work could begin.
During that utility relocation work the roadway has remained open.
KY 136 is now expected to close early Monday, July 7.
Cambry Contracting is the prime contractor on this $644,680 bridge replacement project.
Construction of the new bridge is expected to take about 6 months to complete, weather permitting.
