Boonville town square to lose three run down buildings

Posted: Updated:
BOONVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

The Boonville town square will lose three buildings that have been referred to as eyesores.

The first thing you see when you come into Boonville are braces that are holding up a building along with two others but now thanks to a $250,000 grant something new is coming to the square.

A pocketpark is what the city has planned for the corner of west locust and south second street once these buildings are torn down.

The manager of grants development at the economic development coalition of southwest Indiana says the project is long overdue.

The buildings are a safety hazard and the people of Boonville are happy to see them go.

The manager at the coffee shop across the street is involved in the betting but he says he is more interested in what will be replacing the buildings

The timeline has been changing for when the three buildings are coming down but Ziegler says she expects them to be down sometime in the fall.
