A Huntingburg family is fighting a city ordinance that could force them to get rid of their pet pig.
Bailey the pig belongs to Allison and Michael Bauer of Huntingburg.
Bailey has been the topic of discussion for the City Council as the Bauer's are fighting to keep Bailey as a family pet.
Allison Bauer says Bailey is a Vietnamese Pot-belly pig and that she's been a part of the family since last September.
Bauer says they were contacted by a city official who ordered the family to get rid of Bailey since city code does not allow livestock to be housed as pets.
Michael and Allison Bauer have appealed to the City Council to change the ordinance to include pot-belly pigs as pets.
"Actually, the City of Huntingburg is gonna work with us now on being able to keep Bailey," says Allison. "She's been a great animal. I wouldn't know what to do without her. She's been so sweet. We just enjoy here. We love her to death."
The Bauer's say the Council will make a decision on this at their next meeting on July 24th.
