Man convicted in beating death accused of scraping stolen items

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A man who plead guilty in a deadly beating in a restaurant parking lot was taken into custody Tuesday.

According to an arrest report filed by Louisville Metro police, on numerous occasions Justin Werner and a woman named India Shaw scrapped items that had been reported stolen from the same property in the 1200 block of South 7th Street.

The report states on Mar. 17, Werner scrapped copper pipes, on Mar. 22 he scrapped radiators from large air units that were reported stolen from the roof, on Apr. 4, May 7 and May 9 he scrapped both copper and radiators.

Shaw’s arrest report states she also scrapped both copper and radiators stolen from the same location on Apr. 22, Apr. 23 and Apr. 25.

In Aug. 2012 Werner was sentenced to five years probation in the May 2010 beating death of Bryan Stevenson outside of Barbara Lee's Kitchen in the 2400 block of Brownsboro Road.

Werner and Shaw were both charged with receiving stolen property.
