JERUSALEM (CNN) - Fears of another cycle of tit-for-tat violence between Israelis and Palestinians grew on Wednesday.

Israeli police say they're investigating whether a Palestinian youth was killed as an act of retaliation for the murder of three Israeli teens.

His body was found in Jerusalem early on Wednesday morning.

Clashes broke out there later, with Palestinians throwing rocks at Israeli security forces.

The Israelis responded with stun grenades and tear gas. Businesses were seen on fire as well.

The killing quickly triggered condemnations from Palestinian and Israeli leaders, and from the United States and other countries.

Israeli police are trying to determine whether the death in Jerusalem was retaliation for the killings of the West Bank teens.

The body was discovered an hour after police were notified that a Palestinian teenager had been forced into a car in the Beit Hanina neighborhood of Jerusalem.
