EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

A thief is caught on tape stealing bikes from the Evansville Rescue Mission.

Rescue mission officials say they hope someone will recognize the person in the surveillance video and call police.

The thief used bolt cutters to cut locks and take the bikes, which residents use to run errands and go to job interviews.

"I'm definitely disheartened, but I've also been pretty angry cause I know how it affected these guys this morning when they found out their bikes were gone.  Keep in mind, they don't have a lot of things that belong to them in this world and these are two major items.  Not only were we saddened by this, my staff was irritated as well," said Tracy Gorman, CEO, Evansville Rescue Mission.

Gorman says the rescue mission is going to install more lighting, additional surveillance cameras and invest in better locks to keep any more bikes from being stolen in the future.
