The U.S. Coast Guard is asking mariners to stay out of the water as much as possible through Sunday. Those who decide to take the risk are asked to use caution and check weather conditions.
Even after the storm passes and skies are clear, Lt. Lane Munroe with the U.S. Coast Guard reminds the ocean could still be dangerous.
Munroe explained there could still be storm surge, higher waves, and rip currents even though Arthur as passed through.
Coast Guard officials also want to warn boaters who may be heading out to enjoy the holiday.
They are asking boaters to be careful and to check their boats for any damage from the storm; make sure to check the weather report; and have a way to call for help in case something happens.
